Sound and Vision: source of information and education
Sound and Vision is a source of information in many respects. Schools and pupils do not only get an idea of the history of the Netherlands, or of any imaginable subject, but also of the media themselves. The institute helps both primary and secondary schools to use the facilities provided by Sound and Vision. For example, teachers can get made-to-order teaching packs with material from the audio-visual source collection and use it at their own location, supported by an online connection with the institute and provided with didactic advice. Sound and Vision carries out the educational projects in collaboration with Teleac/NOT, the Public Broadcasting Company, Surfnet, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and other partners.
Studio BENG
In the media experience, Studio BENG gives children and youngsters the opportunity of experimenting with radio or TV production. Studio BENG can be linked to the online education projects and is an extension of the visit to the Sound and Vision media experience. Sound and Vision is an expert in the field of media history and in preserving audio-visual material and making it accessible. The institute thus expressly presents itself as a knowledge partner in these fields, and offers its research and educational services to college and university students and academics.
